Urban Program

Our program site in Pune City has been significantly impacted by COVID-19. 3D Program activities have continued with the constraints of public health guidelines and lockdowns. As we work to support our partners, we are finding that the foundations laid by the 3D Program, particularly the community-based services we have supported, have played a vital role in the distribution of vital emergency supplies and information to women and vulnerable families in Pune city. They are also proving to be effective platforms through which girls and women are enrolling in schemes and are sharing the particular impact that COVID-19 has had on their lives.

Strengthening Systems Through Collective Action

In Pune City, the 3D Program is leveraging collective action platforms to strengthen women’s livelihoods, improve their access to social programs and entitlements across sectors and increase their public and occupational safety. The Program is doing this through convergent action by engaging the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), the waste pickers trade union Kagad Kach Patra Kashtakari Panchayat (KKPKP), the waste pickers cooperative SWaCH, the Centre for Environment Education and a private sector philanthropist.
